BICYCLES & BAKERIES

There is always a bike or two or three parked in front of City Bakery. Some beauties, some clunkers. Today's AMF Roadmaster [late '50's, early '60's?] is the first in a series showing off the wide variety of bikes parked on our sidewalk. Turns out that AMF has deep history connected to NYC and bakeries. From Wikipedia:

The company was founded by Rufus L. Patterson, inventor of the first automated cigarette manufacturing machine. Originally incorporated in New Jersey but operating in Brooklyn, the company began by manufacturing cigarette, baking, and stitching machines.
